Today we’re talking about women’s health, hormones and skin. My guest is known as Dr. Zen (Dr. Alissia Zenhausern) who is a naturopathic physician and owner of NMD Wellness of Scottsdale. Originally from Geneva Switzerland, Dr. Zen believes in the importance of treating her patients by finding the root cause of disease. She uses the power of integrative medicine to optimize health naturally. Dr. Zen specializes in women’s health and bio-identical hormone replacement therapies. She has been featured as an expert in natural medicine in publications including Shape Magazine, Elite Daily, and Dermstore.
In today’s interview, we discuss how hormonal changes impact our health and skin. We also cover how to address symptoms of hormonal imbalances naturally. We discuss healthy lifestyle practices that are key, and we cover bioidentical hormones – what they are, how they work and how they can be use safely and effectively. There are quite a few myths out there about bio-identical hormones so we bust many of those during this interview.
So please enjoy…

Please comment on whether it is or is not necessary to use progesterone if you do not have a uterus or ovaries.
For my patients taking bio-identical hormones of any kind and have a uterus, I generally recommend progesterone. Talk with your doctor to see what’s best for you.
