From biohacking the brain to uncovering secrets in the food industry, there is a lot to learn in this month’s episodes. Check out this recap, and catch what you might have missed.

Achieving Balance Through 40 Years of Zen

With my first guest, Dave Asprey, the founder and CEO of Bulletproof 360, creator of the global phenomenon bulletproof coffee, a two-time New York Times bestselling author, the host of the Webby award-winning podcast Bulletproof Radio, and serial entrepreneur. In this podcast, we discussed a program that truly changed my life, called “40 Years of Zen.”

This program is a personal development neurofeedback program based on 20 years of neurofeedback. Neurofeedback helps the brain think faster and make better decisions while increasing intelligence. In simpler terms, it involves turning off negative thoughts so you can do what you need to get done! As a result, your body will have more energy, making daily tasks easier to do and with lower levels of stress. After all, we can all use help managing stress!

But, if you can’t do the program, don’t worry. Dave and I discuss other ways to improve health, including simple breathing exercises that will help you feel more in control of daily stressors. If you want to feel inspired to take steps to make a shift in your life to create more balance physically, mentally, emotionally and maybe even spiritually, you don’t want to miss this podcast!

Skin Stories from 3 Health Experts

I interviewed three health experts who have all overcome personal struggles with skin issues. These guests were Magdalena Wszelaki, Dr. Joy Martina, and Dr. Amy Killen, and all three of these women have made impressive contributions to the health and wellness space. I think you will find their stories inspiring!

Magdalena Wszelaki is the author of the best-selling cookbook Cooking for Hormone Balance, and she is the founder of Hormones Balance, a nutrition practice dedicated to helping women to rebalance hormones naturally. Her personal health crisis was the direct result from a highly stressful life in advertising – starting from Graves’ and Hashimoto’s Disease (autoimmune conditions causing thyroid failure) to adrenal fatigue and estrogen dominance. Find out in the podcast why Magdalena highly recommends an elimination diet to get to the root of food sensitivities.

Joy Martina is a psychic psychologist specializing in rapid change coaching. She takes an unconventional approach towards coaching, and as a result, experiences incredible success rates are based on her ability to combine a wide range of modalities and her skill of connecting to the unconscious parts of the brain. Joy and I discuss getting into the important habit of calming the mind for just five or ten minutes per day. She even refers to this sacred moment as “…the best habit we can teach ourselves!” As a result, your body reaps the benefits in a positive response.

My final guest in this podcast, Dr. Amy Killen, is board certified in emergency medicine with more than years of experience in direct patient care. We discuss the benefits of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) facials and stem cell treatments that slowly rejuvenate skin for more glow, less hyperpigmentation, and improved signs of aging.

How Environmental Toxins Impact Our Health

On this podcast, Dr. Joseph Pizzorno came back to give us updates on environmental toxins and how they are linked to many chronic diseases, including diabetes, cancer, and autoimmune disease. Dr. Pizzorno is a wealth of knowledge. In fact, he is a world-leading authority on “science-based natural medicine,” a term he coined in 1978 as founding president of Bastyr University.

Dr. Pizzorno and I covered primary sources of toxins, including food, water, air, health and personal care products, and how to effectively eliminate toxins from the body. We discuss where hidden toxins are lurking in the environment, how toxins reach our food, where they are hidden at the grocery store, and more. Dr. Pizzorno also shares some personal recommendations for good health, including goldenseal, blueberries, and ginkgo biloba.

Dr. Pizzorno will help you understand why toxin exposure is something we should all be aware of, how to avoid them, and how to remove them from your body. If you have ever had an interest in how environmental toxins impact our health and how to avoid them, this episode is for you!

The Healthy Food Revolution

This Thursday on The Spa Dr. Podcast, my guest is Ocean Robbins, the grandson of the founder of Baskin Robbins. But that’s not all Ocean has done! Ocean is co-founder and CEO of the 500,000 member Food Revolution Network. At 16, Ocean founded Youth for Environmental Sanity (YES!) and directed it for the next 20 years. In this episode, Ocean and I discuss how his family ended up changing the way they look at food, real problems with the food industry, and how these issues impact our health. If you have an interest in what happens behind the scenes in our food industry, you won’t want to miss this episode.
