Here are your additional questions and Esthetician Jennifer’s responses:

Q. Should you start a new program when you have been battling hormonal acne for years of trying to deal with the hormones first?

A. Absolutely! Hormonal acne is very challenging. It starts with changes from within but it is very important to be using nourishing skin care products as well. Consistency is key and that is why The Spa Dr. Daily Essentials 4-Step Skin Care System with our exfoliant is designed the way it is.

Q. Do I need an eye cream or can I use face cream around my eyes?

A. No need for an eye cream! Our products at The Spa Dr. are so gentle you can apply them all the way up to the lid! Step 2 is my absolute favorite for underneath the eye.

Q. how do you get an even tone without using skin bleachers or other harmful products?

Consistency with Skincare and also internal health and wellness. Blemished skin requires commitment to even out. Also monthly facials with your esthetician are recommended.

Q. I have a lot of skin irritation when I shave (man). I tried different ways of shaving (wet/dry) but I don’t experience improvement. Any advice?

A. Always shave in a downward direction and use disposable razors. Using calming skin care products after shaving is also important because you are exfoliating the skin and will get the most penetration of products right after. My husband loves cleansing (step 1) right after he shaves, make sure you are applying it in a downward motion, and then he applies our serum (step 2). Hope this helps!

Q. What is the best way to stimulate collagen to regain youthful glow and tightness?

A. Skin exercise! I know that sounds silly but it’s true. When applying steps 1, 2, 3, and 4, make sure you are working in a upward motion at a steady pace. It doesn’t have to be a long time but will help to stimulate the production of collagen. Also, monthly facials are recommended for overall skin health. Q. What skin care is good for oily skin?

A. Oily skin can be a factor of many things. Diet and consistency with a skin regimen are the two main ones. At The Spa Dr., we have designed an easy 4 step system to help with consistency. If you have excessive oily skin, the Pearl and Rose Petal Facial Exfoliant is a must twice per week to avoid any dead skin cell build up.

Q. For ladies that are over the age of 40 what are the essential skincare products for day and night routines?

A. Have you seen Dr. Cates’ skin??? It’s flawless. Want to know her secret? She uses The Spa Dr. Daily Essentials 4-Step Skin Care System and pays attention to her gut health. Any woman over 40 (or under 40) should be on a daily skin care routine to have big results in the long run.

I also recommend reading Clean Skin from Within if you aren’t sure where to start.

Monthly facials are recommended not only for overall skin health, but they also promote collagen and elastin production, raises serotonin levels, and stimulates blood and lymph flow which brightens the skin, helps with muscle tone (wrinkle reduction). Facials also provide a sense of emotional well-being.

Q. I’ve been using the 4-step system for about a month, and very much like steps 2-4, but the Cleanser just does not seem like my face is cleansed. The product information is confusing; it states to use a pea-size amount but in the video presented, it states to use 5-6 pumps. I really would not like to use excessive amounts of this product .. all are expensive .. but have looked for a good organic product. My skin is only somewhat oily on the nose area, and I have now also purchased the exfoliant, but would not want or need to use this on a daily basis .. a good product .. but again, it is expensive. I would appreciate your comments on this .. thanks, Doris

A. Thank you so much for your feedback Doris! Our cleanser has enough in it for 5-6 pumps daily use so no worries about not having enough for the month. It can definitely feel differently than other cleansers due to it being a balm cleanser. It’s all about how you use it. I recommend trying it again due to what sounds like an over production of oil on the face. When applying the cleanser to the face, make sure your face is damp and that you wet your fingers. This will allow the cleanser to become almost milky once it has reached the skin. If you are feeling like there is any residue left on the face, I recommend using a facial sponge to get any remaining residue off the face.

When switching to balm cleansing, it is very important to be exfoliating 2x per week to avoid a dead skin cell buildup that was loosened up by the cleanser. Again, thank you so much for your feedback. It’s truly appreciated.
